Directed by Brian Gothong Tan and written by Nabilah Said, Havoc Girls & Kamikaze Boys is a multimedia performance by the BA (Hons) Theatre Arts students from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, exploring the plight of youths and children going through social and political traumatic upheavals.
Inspired by events such as the Arab Spring, the Hong Kong riots and the Thai cave rescue, the performance delves into the actions, agency and complicity of individuals, governments, media and communities in the midst of times of great change.
SELECTED PRESS
“Havoc Girls & Kamikaze Boys also acts as a form of affirmation for youth, letting them understand that they do possess the power to bring change to the world should they choose to do so.”
ARTJAMONLINE
“The script by Nabilah Said is at its best when it drifts from realism into a liminal dream state, where students converse through video games; a goddess walks through a cave of waning children; and a woman in red tells a fable about a girl who keeps pointing at the sky”
