PRESS/RESPONSES

“the dialogue crackles with its bold and crisp satire of overly pedantic, traditional Muslim mindsets. Its comedy succeeds because of the richness and resonance of the characters.”

Akanksha Raja, ArtsEquator

“an accessible, relatable, and light-hearted work that will make you laugh, but is also not afraid to ask difficult questions about how religious and cultural differences shape a family.”

Alicia Chong, ArtsRepublic

“solid and realistic, though abyssal depths lurk beneath its comic drama.”

Akshita Nanda, The Straits Times

“Nabilah Said has a firm grasp of humour and dramatic tension, and cleverly uses language as a tool to both identity and to be wielded as a weapon of exclusion...a highly accessible, approachable work”

Bakchormeeboy

“Budding playwright Nabilah has a fantastic ear for dialogue (both Malay and English) and her characters jump off the page.”

Naeem Kapadia, Crystalwords

“a nuanced, moving portrait of family dynamics in Singapore”

Huzir Sulaiman, JOINT ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, CHECKPOINT THEATRE

“a highly charged play that uses dark humour to perfection.”

HARESH SHARMA, RESIDENT PLAYWRIGHT, THE NECESSARY STAGE
